Louisville, Colorado, July 28, 2008―CableLabs announced today that LG Electronics and Funai Electric have signed the multi-industry tru2way™ Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The MOU signators now include major consumer electronics manufactures - Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG Electronics, Funai (which trades products in the United States under the brand names Philips, Magnavox, Sylvania, and Emerson); Digeo, and ADB; chip maker Intel; and, the nation's top six cable providers―Comcast, Time Warner, Cox, Cablevision, Charter and Bright House Networks.

Funai has been developing tru2way™ STB platform for the past two years with its middleware partner, VividLogic Inc. Funai and VividLogic Inc. has been collaborating on development of a tru2way™ STB, in order to enter into the cable market in the U.S..
“VividLogic is delighted to work with Funai Electric. The next generation of VividLogic’s tru2way™ software products and services will deliver compelling features, performance and reliability to Funai’s tru2way™ Set Top Box.” said Shiva Patibanda, CEO of VividLogic Inc.

In the past, Funai has exhibited the Phase 1 working sample at the CES ’07, and the Phase 2 working sample at this years CES ’08 in Las Vegas. Now, Funai will exhibit the Phase 2.5 working sample at The Cable Show ’08.
